"Without
Shari, Ai Chan would not be alive today."
As a veterinary technician, Shari started taking care of
Ai Chan shortly after Ai Chan came home from an eight day
hospital visit due to chronic kidney failure.

Having never administered injections or
medicine, my anxiety level from offering 14 medications six
times per day was negatively affecting Ai Chan and her
condition was continuing to worsen. To make matters worse, I
was about to take a 14 day trip to Japan and seriously thought
that I would probably never see Ai Chan again.
Shari was originally going to come to my house several times
per day to administer Ai Chan’s medications, but Shari quickly
noticed that Ai Chan’s condition was worsening. As a result,
Shari took Ai Chan to my personal veterinarian. Because she is
a veterinary technician, Shari and my veterinarian hit it off
well. Shari then offered to take Ai Chan back to her house so
she could give Ai Chan the kind of care that Ai Chan needed.
Ai Chan’s condition improved significantly as she was getting
Shari’s world class professional care.
I was at ease throughout my trip as Shari provided me with
daily voicemails letting me know everything that happened with
Ai Chan and Yankee throughout each day.
When I got home, Ai Chan and Yankee looked great!!!

Anita's email to Pet Sitters International
Dear Ellen,
We featured National Pet Sitters Week as the March event on
our site, The Pet Project and have included a link to the Pet
Sitters International website. In addition, I had a small
article regarding Shari Mimura of Professional Pet Services
with whom I had personal experience in December.
On December 12th, I went to the Pet Sitters International site
and entered my home zip code to find a pet sitter. Although my
cats are 6 & 7 years old, I have never gotten a pet sitter for
them as they have always been taken care of by a neighbor.
This neighbor moved away and hence, my Christmas search for a
pet sitter. On December 12th, I sent out several emails to pet
sitters listed on your site in my area. Only one had the
courtesy to reply to me and that was Shari. I liked Shari's
professional demeanor over the phone and was very impressed
with her so I scheduled an appointment with her. She arrived
promptly on time on the day of the appointment, despite the
torrential downpour we were experiencing. She also had an
assistant with her who she was training who was also very
personable and professional. Shari gave me some good pointers,
went over everything in detail and set my mind at ease
immediately.
I was comforted with the knowledge that she is a Veterinary
Technician, as one of my cats has asthma and I
always worry about her when I am away. Shari was unbelievable,
she even managed the impossible which was to get my cats to
come to her and even play with her. She was thorough and she
was as interested in the care of my cats as I am. One thing
that impressed me greatly was when, after being told that she
probably would never see my cats because they hate strangers,
she said, "Oh, that's no problem. What I usually do in those
cases is bring a book and stay awhile so they get used to me
and will finally come out." And she was right!
I was not impressed with the other companies who did not even
bother to reply; ---- -- -----, Manhattan Beach (90267),
-------- ---- in Harbor City (90710), and ------ ----- Pet
Sitting in Torrance (90505). I gave both email addresses and
phone numbers. Shari more than made up for these two, however.
If possible, I would also like to find out if this email would
constitute a nomination for Pet Sitter of The Year and, if
not, if you could advise me how I could nominate Shari.
